I emigrated for love, but that didn&#8217;t last. However, my love for Colombia did, and after our breakup in 2019, I didn&#8217;t think for a second about leaving Colombia.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">My name is Sabine (1985), originally a scientific researcher and born and raised in a small village near Amsterdam. My greatest passions are traveling, photography, web design and writing, which I do with a lot of enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I always follow my heart and love taking adventurous steps in my life. <strong>To create my own (travel) path.<\/strong> Emigrating was such an exciting <em>life change<\/em> that has brought me many beautiful things in life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After living in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.besabine.com\/en\/things-to-do-in-bogota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Bogot\u00e1<\/strong><\/a> for almost three years, I moved to a <strong>finca (farmhouse)<\/strong> in the countryside near <a href=\"https:\/\/www.besabine.com\/en\/mini-guide-sopo-the-nicest-village-in-colombia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Sop\u00f3<\/strong><\/a>, a village about 35 kilometers north of the city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">During my time in Bogot\u00e1, I worked for 2.5 years as a <strong>scientific researcher<\/strong> in the National Cancer Institute of Colombia. Here I engaged in research on smoking habits in Colombia, end-of-life medical care and sexuality and cancer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the second half of 2017, however, I decided to start working for myself as an entrepreneur. <strong>A second big and exciting life change.<\/strong> I quit my job and started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.besabine.com\/en\/how-do-you-start-your-own-business-in-colombia-a-roadmap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>my own business as a WordPress web designer<\/strong><\/a>. Now I create WordPress websites for entrepreneurs and give online blogging courses and coaching. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabineboogaard.nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Check out my company website here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After living in Sop\u00f3 for 4 years, I <strong>returned to Bogot\u00e1 in early 2021, where I still live<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I write with a lot of passion on this blog. For me, <strong>traveling off the beaten path<\/strong> also means creating my own (travel) path. Preferably a <strong>sustainable path<\/strong>.
