Bogot\u00e1 is a delightful city that has much to offer. Unfortunately, almost every traveler stays in La Candelaria. Of course, that is the beautiful historic center with many museums<\/strong><\/a>, but there is much more to see and do in Bogot\u00e1<\/strong><\/a>. If you want to get a good view of this city, you will have to leave La Candelaria.<\/strong> One of the neighborhoods very worth visiting is the also colonial Usaqu\u00e9n<\/strong>, in the north of the city. A cozy old part, with many restaurants, the famous Sunday market and much more. A must-see<\/em> during your visit. Usaqu\u00e9n: a village in Bogot\u00e1<\/h2>\n

Although Usaqu\u00e9n is now a vibrant neighborhood in the metropolis of Bogot\u00e1, this part was a separate village in Cundinamarca until 1954.<\/strong> At 71 square kilometers, Usaqu\u00e9n was a popular spot for the Bogotan elite, who visited their mansions in this area.<\/p>\n

Usaqu\u00e9n is still a separate part of the city, and although today this neighborhood has as many as 550,000 inhabitants, the center (see map) still seems like a separate village.<\/p>\n

Usaqu\u00e9n, and especially the old part, is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Bogot\u00e1. And nowadays it is also a favorite hotspot among tourists. <\/p>\n\n\t\t
