Monter\u00eda | The capital of the department of C\u00f3rdoba<\/h2>\n

Since the year 1952, Monter\u00eda has been the capital of the department of C\u00f3rdoba. One of the departments located on the Colombian Caribbean coast. Along with some smaller villages, Monter\u00eda is the metropolitan region of the department. Although Monter\u00eda is only briefly the capital of C\u00f3rdoba, the city was founded as early as the year 1777. Today, the city’s population is just over 500,000. <\/p>\n

As recently as 16 years ago, Monter\u00eda was one of the ugliest and least organized cities in Colombia. Until during mayor Le\u00f3n Fidel Ojeda’s term, the city was revamped.
