San Juan de Gir\u00f3n, or Gir\u00f3n, is the white town of Santander<\/strong>. Also called peublito Monumento Nacional de Colombia<\/em>, Gir\u00f3n is a true open-air museum<\/strong>. Although the town is easy to visit, few foreign tourists<\/strong> come here. Gir\u00f3n, however, is a true paradise for lovers of white towns, architecture and history<\/strong>. Gir\u00f3n: an architectural paradise in Colombia<\/h2>\n

The town of Gir\u00f3n is located about 9 kilometers from Bucaramanga<\/strong>, the capital of Santander, and is part of its metropolitan area.<\/p>\n

Gir\u00f3n was founded in the year 1631 in the Spanish colonial style. The town is characterized by this distinctive architecture and white houses<\/strong> preserved in their original state. Therefore, this destination is very interesting if you like colonial villages and cities.<\/p>\n

Gir\u00f3n has a population of about 171,000<\/strong> and that’s noticeable: especially the area around the colonial center is large and at certain times it is quite crowded.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
